The URS (Uniform Rapid Suspension System) is a fast, lightweight alternative to the UDRP, designed for clear-cut, indefensible cases of trademark infringement on the new gTLDs introduced after 2013.
It uses the same three-part test as the UDRP but to a higher evidentiary standard ("clear and convincing evidence"), carries a lower filing fee (typically a few hundred dollars), and resolves in weeks rather than months.
The key limitation is the remedy: a URS win suspends the domain for the remainder of its registration — the site goes dark — but does not transfer it to you, and it does not apply to legacy TLDs like .com. Use it to pull an obvious phishing site offline fast; use the UDRP when you need ownership. See the guide on UDRP vs URS. This is general information, not legal advice.
